Truphone
Truphone is known for the best VoIP app on the iPod touch/iphone. With your wifi connection you can call anyone you want to from the Atlantic ocean to the pacific. I personally use this app only occasionally. You do not get your own phone number sadly but you do get your own account. Tell your friends to get this app and sign up for it then you get each others usernames and call each other! There’s also a a feature to use your IM accounts to talk to your friends on Skype, Yahoo instand messenger, AIM, and more! This app has many things to do with it, whether you want to call someone of IM someone this app will do it all for you.
Note: you have to buy or have some type of headset that has a microphone and can fit in your headset area to call people. You can buy them at stores if you need to.
